Turners Falls, MA October 21, 2019 – Mayhew Steel Products, Inc. (Mayhew Tools), primary sponsor to #2 car driven by five-time champion Doug Coby announces Coby’s 6th championship of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Coby was awarded the championship title at the conclusion of the Sunoco World Series 150 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Thompson, CT on October 13, 2019. This is the third consecutive year that Mayhew Tools has signed on with Mike Smergilio’s MSIII Racing to sponsor Coby and the #2 car in the tour.

The Whelen Modified Tour (WMT), now in its thirty-fifth year, began with the Performance Plus 150 at Myrtle Beach Speedway on March 16th and concluded at Thompson October 13th. Although, driver Justin Bonsignore entered the Tour this year as the defending champion, Coby cemented his status as the driver to beat with his win in the Bud: King of Beers 150 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in mid-August. Through the first 11 races of the season Coby had four victories, with top five finishes in eight races, and had finished inside the top 10 in all 11 events a fete he had only achieved one other time in his five title seasons prior to 2019. His total lap lead count through the first 11 races was at an all-time high of 728.

Mayhew Tools Announces Sponsorship of NASCAR’s Whelen Modified Tour Pole Award for the 2019 Season

Turners Falls, MA March 14, 2019 – Mayhew Steel Products, Inc. (Mayhew) announces sponsorship of the Whelen Modified Tour’s Pole Award for the 2019 season, which begins on Saturday, March 16 at Myrtle Beach Speedway in South Carolina. New this year, sponsorship of the award will not only shine a light on the driver who crosses the finish line first, but the winning crew chief will be recognized and awarded one of Mayhew’s newest heavy-duty curved pry bars, dubbed ‘The Big Stick’. The Big Stick, part of Mayhew Tools’ Dominator product line, is the heaviest pry bar Mayhew has manufactured to-date. Thirteen pounds, 54” in length, and comprised of 7/8” chrome-vanadium steel, The Big Stick is designed to withstand tremendous force making it ideal for any lifting, prying, or moving applications.

In recent years, Mayhew Tools has leveraged racing sponsorships as a key component to their marketing strategy, helping them get their brand and tools in front of those immersed in the racing industry, including drivers, their teams, and the fans. Coby has become the first driver to win five titles, four consecutively, of the tour

(Mayhew Tools), the primary sponsor of Doug Coby and his #2 car for the 2017 NASCAR Whelen Modifed Tour, announces Coby’s championship of the 2017 tour. The win marks the fifth championship title, and the fourth consecutive win, of the Whelen Modified Tour for the Milford, Connecticut driver. Mayhew Tools signed on with Mike Smergilio’s MSIII Racing and driver Coby after their 2016 championship of the tour in a move to elevate the company’s profile as a racing sponsor.
