Mayhew Tools Builds a Stronger Community Through Its Support of Habitat for Humanity

 

Last week, Steve Richardson, Lisa DeLisle, Nate Ortiz, and Eva Merski had the privilege of representing Mayhew Steel Products at a Habitat for Humanity build in Pelham, Massachusetts. Habitat for Humanity’s mission is centered on bringing people together to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership, and we were proud to play a small part in that mission. The project consists of two neighboring homes, a single-story residence and a two-story home, that will provide affordable housing opportunities for hardworking local families.

When we arrived, the foundations had been poured and the first floors were framed, giving us the opportunity to jump right into the construction process. Working alongside three talented and knowledgeable carpenters, our team spent the day hanging ZIP System sheathing on the single-story home, helping to move the project one step closer to becoming a place a family can proudly call home.

From 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., the Mayhew team put our skills and determination to work, measuring, cutting, lifting, and installing materials using hammers, skill saws, drills, caulking guns, tape measures, and plenty of muscle. The weather could not have been better; the carpenters were outstanding mentors, and the sense of teamwork was incredible throughout the day. By the time we packed up our tools, everyone was tired, sore, and proud of what we had accomplished together. More importantly, we left knowing that Mayhew’s commitment extends far beyond our facilities and well into the communities where we live and work.

Giving back alongside Habitat for Humanity was a rewarding experience that reflects the values of our employees and our company, and we are already looking forward to doing it again next year when Habitat for Humanity will build low-income housing in Turners Falls.

Mayhew employees continue to prove that when we work together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and help build stronger communities for generations to come.
