Turners Falls, MA: Mayhew Steel Products, Inc. (Mayhew ToolsTM) announced today that it has completed the acquisition of the business assets of the injection molding and manufacturing company, originally Kelly Manufacturing, located in Clinton, Massachusetts. The plant’s wide range of molding machines, investment in automation and strong management team will compliment Mayhew Basque Plastics’ current operation which supplies component parts for Mayhew’s quality hand tool line in addition to servicing customers with proprietary products across diverse industries. By the end of 2016, all operations, including 15 injection molding machines and manufacturing personnel, will effectively consolidate into Mayhew’s 30,000 sq ft Leominster, Massachusetts plant and operate under the Mayhew Basque Plastics banner.
The combination of plastic operations will feature 31 injection molding machines ranging in size from 40-700 ton, 2 shuttle machines, a pad printer, and a hot stamp press. The complimentary integration of all machinery and processes will create greater scale and automation, increase capabilities within current and future products and leverage the combined skills and talents of Mayhew’s strong management, sales and engineering staff. Some of the main production items purchased by Mayhew include a hand tool line of paint scrapers and trowels.
“As a leading USA hand tool manufacturer and marketer, Mayhew’s vertical integration has proved invaluable in our ongoing lean initiatives.
